Red vs. Blue, Part I (The Funny Part)

This is me getting somewhat political, which I do much more often in other medium. But this one is a bit about how silly we, as Americans, have made politics. Part II is going to be about some of the darker aspects of this. In any event, let's have the funny part. When did we start having "Red States" and "Blue States?" And why does it feel like we are reducing our options to Red and Blue? It is as if Politics has turned into a Competitive Multiplayer section of a First Person Shooter, or American Gladiators, or Double Dare. That gives me an idea... How many more people would actually be engaged in politics as a whole if politicians had to compete in Double Dare events? I know I'd be more engaged in debates if the moderator was firing pies at the candidates, who had to catch them in a pair of oversized pants. And the winner got to tell their stance and get to rebut the other side's stance. People who wouldn't even care would be for it just to see...

People I know doing awesome things.

Took a few days off to collect my thoughts. It happens from time to time, and it kind of sucks. Meh. Story of my life. This post was inspired by some of the cool stuff people I know are doing, and I kind of wanted to give them a little bit of a shout out. 👌 First one is Jacki Mayo Van Dyke. She is a local artist here who received a fairly prestigious grant for her work promoting art in the area. She is one hell of a painter. Check out her work right here. Another is Wren Elkins, who was recently revealed as the mastermind behind a local project known as Augusta Miniatures, where she made pint sized sculptures of local landmarks and posted them throughout the downtown area. Really cool work, if you ask me. See the story right here.

The "justifying a computer purchase" manifesto

I recently purchased a new computer. Nothing thoroughly fancy, but it is a brand new one, and a little on the pricey side for my tastes. It took me quite a bit of thought and consideration before I decided to throw down the hard earned money for it. I had told the woman who was selling it for her sales folder (why does she need to fill out a folder for a computer? Another rant for another day, I guess) I was using it for a gaming blog, aka "Business." So, as such I call it my "Business Computer." I called it a 'Gaming Blog,' but I actually needed a machine powerful enough to play a game I have Steam that I could actually play it on. But I refuse to spend the amount of money I did exclusively to play a game that cost a fraction of what I paid for the computer. But the 'Blog' thing is a solid idea. I play around a bit with the Terrible Tumblr, but I don't really post there. It is merely a thing I look at daily I don't contribute much to it. O...
